IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics
About the Publication
Sponsors: Industry Applications Society (IAS), Power Electronics Society (PELS)
Power electronics has matured as a discriminating technology for a wide variety of applications in appliances, commercial settings, energy efficiency, handheld devices, industrial settings, and transportation. The technology has evolved tremendously to approach a wide range of applications and implementations that push limits in dynamics and energy conversion performance. As a result, the amount of research work for emerging and selected topics as well as the need for close collaborations among academia, industry, and research are growing at an unprecedented speed. The challenge in the coming years lies in developing new techniques at the lowest possible cost, size, and weight for emerging applications. To address this technology trend and to serve members better, the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics (JESTPE) was launched.

Information for Authors
Information on paper submission (e.g., correct formats, file types, etc.) can be found in JESTPE’s submission guidelines. All submissions should be in a double-column format. The correct template can be found in the IEEE Template Selector. Authors should pay particular attention to documenting their work in relation to the known literature. For more information concerning tools and assistance with article preparation and submission, the proof review process, and ordering reprints, please visit the IEEE Author Center.
The articles in JESTPE are peer-reviewed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the IEEE PSPB Operations Manual (sections 8.2.1.C & 8.2.2.A). Each published article was reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers using a single-anonymous peer-review process, where the identities of the reviewers are not known to the authors, but the reviewers know the identities of the authors. Articles will be screened for plagiarism before acceptance.
Article Processing Charges (APC): When a paper is accepted for publication, authors must pay an APC of 2,495 USD plus applicable local taxes. IEEE members receive a 5% discount and PELS members receive a 20% discount. These discounts cannot be combined and do not apply to undergraduate and graduate students. Papers submitted from 1 January 2025 onward will be subject to an APC of 2,645 USD if accepted for publication.
More information about IEEE’s Low and Lower-middle Income Country Program is available here. Some institutions offer assistance for open-access funding. Check IEEE’s institutional partners list to see if yours is one.
Submit a Paper
All papers must be submitted through the IEEE Author Portal. Papers that are submitted will be reviewed by the JESTPE editorial board, including guest editors for special issues and sections. The papers are screened for plagiarism before acceptance and are peer-reviewed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the IEEE PSPB Operations Manual (sections 8.2.1.C & 8.2.2.A). Published articles have been reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers using a single-blind peer-review process, which is when the reviewers’ identities are not known to the authors but the reviewers know the authors’ identities.
Special Issue Proposals
When completed, please send them to the Deputy Editor in Chief Fernando Briz for consideration. The proposers will then be notified if their special issue proposal is accepted or rejected. If accepted, the guest editors of the special issue will process the submissions in ScholarOne Manuscripts/Manuscript Central. Once all of the submissions are finalized, the guest editors will receive additional information, including guidance on writing a guest editorial for the special issue.
