A PELS PhD summer school was organized by IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) and PELS Madhya Pradesh Chapter at MANIT, Bhopal from 20th to 24th July 2024. It brought together PhD scholars, academia and industry experts to share knowledge and ideas in power electronics. The five-day program featured an array of technical sessions, industrial visits, and hands-on practice, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of latest developments in power electronics.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. M. K. Badapanda, Chair-PELS Madhya Pradesh Chapter and Prof. Sanjib Kumar Panda, NUS Singapore & PELS Distinguished Lecturer. Mr. Badapanda discussed about the achievements of the Chapter and about the emerging research areas in the field of Power Electronics. Eminent speakers such as Prof. Brad Lehman, PELS President; Prof. Brij N. Singh, John Deere Inc., USA; Prof. S. K. Ramesh, Professor, California State University; Prof. Mark Dehong Xu, Vice President (Membership), PELS; Prof. Bhim Singh, IIT Delhi (Vigyan Shri Awardee) and Dr. Archana Sharma, Distinguished Scientist, BARC-Mumbai addressed in this PhD summer school.
A distinguished lecture on the topic “A Futuristic Medium-Voltage Grid Connected Multi- Port Public Electric-Vehicle Ultra-Fast Charging-Station with G2V and V2G Capability” was
delivered by Prof. Sanjib Panda in this school.
On the second day of this school, a Women in Engineering (WIE) workshop on the theme of “Challenges in Work Life Balance of Women in Engineering” was organized which was attended by more than 120 participants. This PhD summer school was attended by more than 60 PhD scholars along with a number of volunteers from PELS Madhya Pradesh Chapter and host institute. The participants were
actively engaged in various technical sessions, industry visits, hands on practice sessions and were immensely benefited from this summer school. The event was uploaded in IEEE vTools, covered in social media and various local newspapers.
